Cubs Don't Commit To Craig Kimbrel As Closer
4 years agoChicago Cubs reliever Craig Kimbrel doesn't appear to have the confidence of his manager when it comes to closing games right now. Manager David Ross was non-committal in Saturday's press conference when asked if Kimbrel will get the ball with a one-run lead. The former All-Star had a rough outing on Friday night, giving up back-to-back home runs when he was used in a non-save situation against the Pirates. Ross didn't exactly sound confident when talking about Kimbrel as the closer and his recent performance doesn't indicate he'll be getting the ball in the ninth anytime soon. Fellow reliever Jeremy Jeffress could be getting an opportunity to hold down the ninth in the near future.
