Tommy Kahnle Shut Down With Forearm Tightness
4 years agoNew York Yankees right-handed pitcher Tommy Kahnle did not appear in a setup situation during Thursday’s contest against the Orioles and it’s now apparent why. Yankees manager Aaron Boone confirmed that Kahnle has been sidelined due to right forearm tightness for which he underwent an MRI. The move comes as a blow to a New York bullpen that got news earlier in the day that Aroldis Chapman would be activated after missing the first five games due to a positive COVID-19 test. New York has multiple right-handed reliever options to take Kahnle’s spot, but none posses the immense K/9 numbers that Kahnle delivered last season, striking out 88 batters in 61 ⅓ innings. He can safely be dropped in season-long formats at this stage as the concern around his future prospects seems legitimate.
