Justus Sheffield Gives Up Four Runs In Debut
4 years agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Justus Sheffield gave up four runs on three hits and four walks through three innings in Tuesday's loss to the Angels. Sheffield has a lot of promise as a 24-year-old pitcher, but has yet to be able to put it together in the majors. He made eight appearances, including seven starts, for the Mariners in 2019 and ended with a 5.50 ERA and 1.72 WHIP through 36 innings. The Mariners aren't likely to give their pitchers much run support and until Sheffield starts flashing the potential he has, he should be left on waivers. Sheffield is scheduled to take on the Athletics on Monday and could be in line for two starts, but the gamble may not be worth it.
