It feels great to have baseball back! In this sprint of a season with only 60 games, it becomes even more important to pay close attention to potential streamers. This can really put you ahead of your competition.
When choosing my daily hitter streamers, I examine their platoon splits, lineup position, and pitching matchup. With pitchers, I account for the opposing lineup, team ballpark, and recent performance to help make my decision.
Each of my streamers will be rostered in between 0-40% of Yahoo leagues, with a mixed focus on both shallow and deeper formats. Let’s take a look at the Monday slate and dig out some streamer gems to help you start the week off on the right track.

Hitter Streamers for 7/27
Yoshi Tsutsugo (3B/OF, TB, LHB) - 19% Rostered
Matchup: vs. ATL RHP Mike Foltynewicz
Yoshi Tsutsugo is one of the new additions to the Rays’ lineup, signing a 2-year, $12 million deal with the team after starring with Yokohama in Japan. Tsutsugo got off to a great start to his MLB career, homering in his debut against the Blue Jays. The Japanese outfielder has hit in both the third and cleanup spot in the lineup. He faces righty Mike Foltynewicz at home on Monday. While Folty had a strong second half in 2019, this is an exploitable matchup for Tsutsugo. This streaming choice primarily based on the lefty-righty matchup and prime batting slot for Tsutsugo.
Nico Hoerner - (SS, CHC, RHB) - 4% Rostered
Matchup: @ CIN vs. LHP Wade Miley
Nico Hoerner comes into the season as the third-best prospect on the Cubs (ProspectsLive). Hoerner has a solid hit tool with strong contact ability. Hoerner bat eighth in the Cubs’ lineup in their season opener, but this is a good offense which will allow for run-producing opportunities up and down the order. Hoerner slashed .273/.250/.545 in 11 plate appearances against lefties in limited action last year. He gets a favorable matchup against Wade Miley in a hitter’s park in Cincinnati. Hoerner is worth a look in deeper leagues.
Eric Sogard - (2B/OF, MIL, LHB) - 1% Rostered
Matchup: @ PIT vs. LHP Steven Brault
Eric Sogard came out of nowhere to slash .290/.353/.457 with 13 home runs and 8 stolen bases in 442 plate appearances last season. He’s currently hitting leadoff for the Brewers, right in front of Christian Yelich and Keston Hiura, so there will be numerous run-scoring opportunities for the veteran infielder. Despite being a left-handed hitter, Sogard does well against lefties, putting up .270/.345/.510 with 6 home runs in 2019. He gets a great matchup vs. Steven Brault here, a pitcher who put up a 5.16 ERA and 1.50 WHIP along with a 9.3 K-BB% in 113.1 IP last season. Sogard is another desirable deep-league streamer.
Pitcher Streamers for 7/27
Griffin Canning (RHP, LAA) @ OAK - 32% Rostered
Griffin Canning is healthy and ready to go after experiencing some elbow issues that would have kept him out if the season started on schedule. He looked sharp in his last intrasquad game, fanning eight hitters in five innings. Canning found success against the A’s last year, putting up a 3.50 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, 2 BB, and 19 K in 18 IP. While the A’s have a nice lineup, they still play in a pitcher’s park, so Canning has a chance for a strong debut here. Canning showed high upside as a rookie, posting a 13.8 SwStr% and 17.2 K-BB% in 90.1 IP.
Chris Bassitt (RHP, OAK) vs. LAA - 17% Rostered
Chris Bassitt takes the mound against the Angels as Canning’s opposing pitcher. Bassitt put up a 3.81 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 15.4 K-BB% in 144 IP last season. He was much better at home, posting a 3.01 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, and 17.3 K-BB% in 68.2 IP. Bassitt takes on an improved Angels offense that added stud third baseman Anthony Rendon, but Bassitt’s effectiveness at home makes him a strong bet for a solid stream start. Roll with the A’s crafty righty here.
Pablo Lopez (RHP, MIA) vs. BAL - 7% Rostered
Pablo Lopez had an inconsistent rookie season, but this is a pitcher with pinpoint control (5.8 BB% in 2019) with the ability to induce groundballs at a high rate (47.6 GB% in 2019). Lopez was much better at home in 2019, posting a 3.39 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 19.7 K-BB% in 100 IP. He takes on one of the worst offenses in baseball in the Baltimore Orioles, a team that has light-hitting shortstop Jose Iglesias batting in the three-hole right now. Take advantage of this prime matchup for the sophomore Marlin.
NOTE: The Orioles-Marlins game has been postponed due to the COVID outbreak on the Marlins.
Alternative Option:
- Dylan Cease (RHP, CHW) @ CLE - 22% Rostered
