Justin Verlander Notches Opening Day Win
4 years agoHouston Astros starter Justin Verlander twirled six innings of two-run baseball as the Astros defeated Mariners 8-2 on Opening Day. The veteran punched out seven hitters, walked only one and allowed two solo home runs. Verlander has been indestructible the past several seasons but a groin injury back in March proved he was mortal after all. The right-hander showed little effects of the injury as he limited Seattle to only three hits total in his first outing. Verlander will be a must-start when he takes his next turn in the rotation.
