Kyle Lewis Batting Cleanup On Opening Day
4 years agoSeattle Mariners outfielder Kyle Lewis will be batting fourth in Seattle's season opener against the Astros. Lewis made a splash at the end of the 2019 season hitting six home runs in just 75 plate appearances. After a strong summer camp, there has been some sleeper hype for Lewis, but it should be taken with a grain of salt. During his brief stint in the majors in 2019, Lewis also had a strikeout rate of 38.7% with a 4% walk rate. While the high strikeout rate is consistent with his minor league track record, the power isn't as he hit 30 home runs across 287 minor league games. For now, Lewis is only interesting in deeper leagues and the plate discipline makes him much less valuable in points leagues. There is still a lot of room for growth and improvement for the 25-year-old though and it's worth keeping an eye on him.
