Erik Jones Finishes A Solid Sixth At Texas
4 years agoJoe Gibbs Racing's Erik Jones finished sixth in Sunday's O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway. Jones started back in 23rd but methodically worked his way through the field. Jones quietly ran inside the top-10, all day, and led the field for seven laps. Jones had been snakebit this year, so avoiding the chaos that unfolded was what he needed to get back into playoff contention. However, Jones did not want to see another new winner, and Cole Custer and Austin Dillon punched their playoff tickets in the last two races. The final result was Jones' sixth-straight top-10 finish at TMS, and he will look to build on that momentum, heading into Kansas, another track where he has seen past success.
