Matt Andriese In Line To Be Fifth Starter
4 years agoLos Angeles Angels starting pitcher Matt Andriese appears to be in line to be the team's fifth starter entering the 2020 season. He'd follow Andrew Heaney, Shohei Ohtani, Dylan Bundy and Griffin Canning, although the exact order hasn't been set. Jaime Barria and Felix Pena are the leading candidates to fill in as the sixth starter, with Julio Teheran another option once he's stretched out. The Angels plan to use a six-man rotation to accommodate Ohtani, since he'll be pitching on six days of rest. Andriese, a 30-year-old right-hander, had a 4.71 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 79 strikeouts in 70 2/3 innings last year for Arizona. He'll have limited fantasy appeal in a six-man rotation and is a low-upside AL-only target.
