Chris Paddack Preparing For Opening Day Nod
4 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Chris Paddack stretched out to six innings in his latest start Sunday. Firing 71 pitches, the 24-year-old cruised through four frames before working out of several jams later on. With the Friars talking up Paddack as their ace, he seems destined to be the Opening Day starter on July 24. Despite a brief stumble in the second half last season, Paddack enjoyed a stellar rookie campaign, registering a 3.33 ERA, 0.98 WHIP and 9.8 K/9 in 140 2/3 innings. Rising on draft boards as a top-60 pick, Paddack isn’t a value selection but has the upside to justify the SP2 price.
