Jonathan Lucroy Could See Time At First Base
4 years agoBoston Red Sox catcher Jonathan Lucroy, who worked with pitchers Ryan Brasier, Colten Brewer and Brandon Workman during the shutdown, could see some time at first base in 2020. Boston will likely start the year with catchers Lucroy, Christian Vazquez and Kevin Plawecki on the active roster. Lucroy has taken ground balls at first base in summer camp and has made 35 career starts at the position. He is a right-handed hitting option to platoon with the left-handed hitting Mitch Moreland. The 34-year-old veteran has bounced around quite a bit since leaving the Brewers in 2016 and hit just .232 with eight homers and 36 RBI in 101 games with the Angels and Cubs in 2019. At best, he might be a cheap DFS play against left-handed pitchers this year.
