Buster Posey Opts Out Of 2020 Season
4 years agoSan Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey is opting out of the 2020 season amid the coronavirus pandemic. Posey and his wife are adopting identical twin girls that were born prematurely and stable, but they will be in the intensive-care unit for some time, which surely contributed to the decision. Posey missed time in summer camp while he was weighing the decision to sit out this year. The 33-year-old six-time All-Star and former National League Rookie of the Year saw more decline in 2019, batting just .257 with seven home runs and 38 RBI in 114 games. You can officially remove him from draft boards, and he'll be nothing more than a low-end catching option in deep mixed leagues for 2021. Aramis Garcia might not play at all after having hip surgery, making it more likely now that top prospect Joey Bart could see significant playing time in 2020.
