Jake Lamb Should Have Inside Track At DH
5 years agoArizona Diamondbacks corner infielder Jake Lamb should have the inside track as the primary designated hitter this year with the universal DH in play in both leagues. However, injuries and inconsistency (75 OPS+) the last two years have left him with plenty to prove. Lamb has a weak .594 OPS against lefties, too. But if he returns to his prior form, he and Kevin Cron could give the D-backs plenty of power at the DH spot. Cron hit an absurd 38 home runs with a .777 slugging percentage in 82 games for Triple-A Reno last year. Lamb was an All-Star in 2017 when he slashed .248/.357/.487 with a career-high 30 home runs, 105 RBI and six steals in 149 games. But a likely platoon role on the infield and/or at DH makes him only a late-round flier for his power in deeper leagues this year.

Jake Lamb Battling Tight Quadriceps
1 month agoSan Francisco Giants first baseman/outfielder Jake Lamb (quadriceps) is dealing with tightness in his left quad. The 34-year-old was lifted from Thursday's spring training contest. The team is expected to provide an update on his status on Friday. Earlier in the offseason, Lamb signed a minor-league contract with the Giants that included an invite to spring training. Lamb spent the entire 2024 campaign playing in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. He logged 98 games with Triple-A Indianapolis. Across this stint, Lamb posted a .264/.350/.393 line with 23 doubles, seven home runs, and 43:84 BB:K ratio. During the 2023 season, he logged 19 games with the Los Angeles Angels and held a .216/.259/.353 slash line. Fantasy managers should expect Lamb to continue to compete for a spot on the Opening Day roster when he is cleared to return.

Jake Lamb Inks Minor-League Deal With San Francisco
2 months agoAccording to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the San Francisco Giants have signed first baseman/outfielder Jake Lamb to a minor-league contract that includes an invite to spring training. Lamb spent the entire 2024 campaign at the Triple-A level with Indianapolis. Across 98 contests, Lamb posted a .264/.350/.393 line with 23 doubles, seven home runs, and a 43:84 BB:K ratio. Through 10 seasons in the major leagues, the former sixth-round selection holds a career .235/.326/.427 line. His best season was in 2017 when he made the National League All-Star team with a .248/.357/.487 line with 30 home runs, 30 doubles, and 105 RBI. Lamb will look to compete for a spot on the Opening Day roster but will likely open the campaign at Triple-A given his lack of prolonged big league success.

Yankees Sign Jake Lamb To Minor-League Deal
2 years agoThe New York Yankees signed free-agent infielder/outfielder Jake Lamb to a minor-league deal on Friday and assigned him to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The 32-year-old left-handed hitter spent the first six-plus seasons of his career with the Arizona Diamondbacks, posting an .843 OPS with 59 homers from 2016-17. But injuries and poor performance led to his release in 2020. Since then, he's appeared in 127 big-league games for the A's, White Sox, Blue Jays, Dodgers, Mariners and Angels. He hit a solid .317 in 150 plate appearances for Triple-A Salt Lake this year but struggled with the Angels by hitting just .216 in 54 plate appearances. Lamb will strictly serve as infield and outfield depth in the minors for the Yankees for now.
