Tommy Pham Could Benefit From DH Rule
4 years agoSan Diego Padres outfielder Tommy Pham (elbow) could benefit from the universal designated hitter in 2020. Supposedly recovered from a partially torn UCL, the 32-year-old wasn’t playing much in the outfield prior to spring training being shut down. Fangraphs currently has Pham penciled in as the Friars DH, which would also lift playing time for outfielder Wil Myers, who is projected in left field. Coming off three straight campaigns of 20-plus homers and a wRC+ over 120, regular at-bats for Pham with a few off days in the field would certainly keep him fresh. Slotting in as the No. 2o overall outfielder with a 79 ADP, the reliable veteran shapes up as a solid risk-reward pick.
