Giants Might Not Use Five-Man Rotation
4 years agoSan Francisco Giants president Farhan Zaidi said that the team may not have a five-man rotation for the shortened 60-game 2020 season. Zaidi said that the Giants may use "tandem guys" this year. San Francisco isn't the only major league team that is considering something similar, as the Braves and Dodgers also hinted that they may go with more of a four-man rotation with pitchers only going three or four innings through the first couple turns. It'll obviously be bad news for fantasy owners of starting pitchers on the teams that employ this strategy, at least early in the season. Johnny Cueto, Jeff Samardzija, Kevin Gausman and Drew Smyly make up the team's top four starters, with guys like Logan Webb, Tyler Anderson, Trevor Cahill, Andrew Suarez, Tyson Ross and Tyler Beede plenty capable of being "tandem guys" or swing men.
