RotoBaller PGA: One And Done Staff Picks - RBC Heritage

The PGA RotoBaller staff digs into their One and Done selections for the RBC Heritage. Here are some under the radar plays and picks for this week's event.

Hello RotoBallers! It's great to have golf back and the Charles Schwab Challenge certainly didn't disappoint, as a star-studded leaderboard battled down to the wire, with Daniel Berger eventually outlasting Collin Morikawa in a sudden-death playoff to take home the title.

Last week was a tough one for lots of golf prognosticators, as we didn't really know what form players would be in after an unprecedented layoff. Spencer and I both missed horribly with our picks of Matt Kuchar and Rickie Fowler. However, Josh scored big time on the strength of Patrick Reed's T7 finish that resulted in nearly a $250k windfall.

Josh's huge week brought him very close to Spencer's season total. With ol' lucky (me) bringing up the rear. Hopefully, Spencer and I can get back on track at this week's RBC Heritage. Let's see who the guys are rolling with at Harbour Town

In this feature, our golf staff of Joe Nicely, Spencer Aguiar and Josh Bennett will provide their weekly golf picks every Wednesday. The purpose of this article is to present you with alternative options to consider and hopefully make your selection a much easier process weekly. With that plan in mind, let's get started!

For an in-depth breakdown of the top DraftKings and FanDuel plays, check out Joe Nicely's weekly Horse For The Course that highlights the best fits for the week's course. One and Done Selections - RBC Heritage

Joe Nicely - Matt Kuchar

Alternate - Justin Rose

Ok, I'm an idiot. I was fully determined to take Jordan Spieth last week, but chickened out at the last minute. Spieth kinda crumbled over the weekend at Colonial, but his T10 payday sure would have been an improvement over Rickie Fowler's missed cut. Frustrating!

I'm not making any last-minute changes this week at the RBC Heritage. I landed on Matt Kuchar early in the week and that's the Skechers-wearing horse I'll be riding at Harbour Town. Kuch broke tons of hearts last week when he double-bogeyed his final hole Friday to miss the cut by a shot, but I'm willing to chalk it up to a "knocking the rust off" outing.

The Khaki One's track record at the Heritage is borderline supernatural. Kuchar nabbed the title in 2014 and has proceeded to run off SIX STRAIGHT TOP-25'S in the subsequent years, including a runner-up finish last season. He will probably be popular due to that course history, but I'm hoping some folks will be reluctant to go back to him after being burned last week. - Joe Nicely

Spencer Aguiar - Justin Rose

Alternate - Tyrrell Hatton

Matt Kuchar... you cheap, cheap bastard. Why am I not surprised that Kuchar double-bogeyed the final hole to miss the cut and take away money from my OAD total? To me, this honestly feels as egregious as when he stiffed his reserve caddie in Mayakoba, and I might open a GoFundMe page to get some of those earnings placed back into my total.

I mean, honestly! What is even going on in this contest for me lately? Paul Casey double-bogeyed two of the final six holes at the American Express to drop from second to 21st. Dustin Johnson imploded his back-nine at the Genesis Invitational to drop from second to 10th. Justin Thomas, good on you for blowing what felt like an insurmountable lead late at the WGC-Mexico and falling to sixth. And let's round it out with Fleetwood leaving a few hundred grand on the table when he found water at the 72nd hole during the Honda Classic. AHHHHHHHHH. The shit that goes wrong for me in this contest weekly.

Deep breath. Let's round out this last paragraph on a high note and get back to our regularly scheduled program (insert fake smile). Why am I picking Justin Rose this week? Well, who likes money more than the Englishman? He is willing to plaster his face on any add campaign for the right price, and we surely know that I need a payday to end this current drought of mine. If Rose wins, he can get his purse of over a million dollars, and I am willing to place his face as my new avatar on Twitter to get him extra views. Sounds like a good plan to me for all involved. -Spencer Aguiar

Yearly Earnings - $2,723,331

Yearly Cuts Made - 9/11

Josh Bennett - Kevin Kisner

Alternate - Tyrell Hatton

My thoughts behind my pick this week are very similar to last week. My rationale behind Reed last week was that he has an elite short game and he’s a good putter which will be very beneficial when it’s hard to hit a lot of greens. Same story this week, except driving accuracy has to come into play. This course is short, narrow, tree-lined, and unlike last week there isn’t really room to be cutting corners to remove tree trouble. Kisner hits the ball very straight off the tee and should keep it in play for most of the tournament. He also has a great short game and is a good putter. That’s important this week because the greens are small and will be hard to hit. There may not be any 59 watches for Kiz this week, but he’ll hit fairways and get up-and-down all week and keep himself towards the top of the leaderboard that way.
