Tua Tagovailoa Begins Working With Team Doctors
4 years agoMiami Dolphins rookie quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, selected fifth overall in April's draft, started training at the team's facilities on Monday following his serious hip injury last November. Team doctors and trainers now have access to the 22-year-old because of the loosened restrictions the NFL imposed on every team amid the coronavirus pandemic. Tagovailoa is a little bit ahead of schedule in his rehab from hip surgery and is healing well. Mainly, there was no wear and tear on other areas of concern like the femoral head or the acetabulum or the pelvis itself. His blood supply in the hip area also wasn't compromised, which could've led to bone deterioration. The Dolphins are comfortable letting Ryan Fitzpatrick open the season as the starter so that they can be cautious with their future franchise QB. According to a team source, some inside the organization think the best plan for the rookie is to have Tagovailoa not take part in any drills involving contact for a full year. It's why he's not much of a redraft target in fantasy leagues, but he'll be one of the first players off the board in rookie dynasty drafts.
