The Colorado Rockies selected Clemson lefty pitcher Sam Weatherly with the 81st overall pick in the third round in the 2020 MLB draft on Thursday. They then went with Douglas County High School pitcher Case Williams in the fourth round and Michigan shortstop Jack Blomgren in the fifth round. Weatherly's best pitch is a wipeout slider and he has the stuff to start with a durable 6-foot-4 frame, but he'll need to throw more strikes to avoid moving to the bullpen. Williams, a Santa Clara commit, has a fastball that's reached 96 mph. He has a strong right-handed arm and is a local kid, but he'll need to improve his offspeed stuff. Blomgren has excellent makeup. He's a contact guy and has the skills to stay at shortstop, but he might profile more as a utility type at the next level.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
