Titans' former fifth-overall pick Corey Davis has been a bust for the most part since getting drafted. He was an absolute stud in a playoff loss against the Patriots in 2017 and showed signs of improvement as a sophomore but fell flat in 2019. Davis as outshined by second-round receiver A.J. Brown and effectively relegated to WR2 heading into this season in Tennessee. Davis is still athletic but seems to be a victim of circumstance playing the role of an outside alpha receiver in an offense that is incapable of targeting him. While the quarterback change from Marcus Mariota to Ryan Tannehill proved fruitful to the Titans' offense, Davis saw his targets decline immensely (112 to 69) from 2018. However, his catch rate and yards per target both have steadily increased since his rookie year, showing signs of life for the 25-year-old wide receiver. He may not be a fantasy viable option if his target volume remains low but the possible mid-season trade is possible along with an unexpected breakout forcing his team's hand. All-in-all Davis is worth drafting around his ADP for pure upside alone, especially given that injuries have not been an issue for the past two seasons.--Kev Mahserejian

The New York Jets officially released wide receiver Corey Davis from the Reserve/Retired list on Thursday, making him free to sign with any team on the open market. Davis, who is still an option to return to the Jets, applied for reinstatement from the NFL earlier in the day after announcing his retirement towards the end of last season. The 29-year-old pass-catcher now wants to return to football in 2024, but it remains to be seen where he'll be playing. The Tennessee Titans' former first-round pick (fifth overall) in 2017 out of Western Michigan caught 66 of 123 targets for 1,028 yards and six touchdowns from 2021-22 in two seasons with the Jets. Wherever he's playing in 2024, the veteran wideout will likely be battling for a depth role and is unlikely to make a mark in fantasy.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

New York Jets wide receiver Corey Davis (personal) did not play in 2023 after taking a break from football for personal reasons. He was placed on the reserve/retired list by New York in late August. However, NFL insider Field Yates reports that Davis has applied for reinstatement to the NFL, meaning he wants to return in 2024. The Jets are expected to release Davis from the reserve/retired list, but a return to the organization is still in play. Originally the No. 5 overall pick by the Tennessee Titans in 2017 out of Western Michigan, Davis has hauled in 273 of his 461 targets for 3,879 yards and 17 touchdowns through his first 78 NFL games. He's never lived up to his draft status, but he could be a serviceable WR3 option for teams in need of pass-catchers. That said, he's likely to be rusty and will not begin the season on the fantasy radar.--Jackson Sparks - RotoBaller

New York Jets wide receiver Corey Davis has decided to retire after recently being away from the team at training camp due to personal reasons. Davis' future with the Jets had been in question this offseason, but it's a bit surprising to see him hang up his cleats after just six seasons in the NFL. He was a former first-round pick (fifth overall) of the Tennessee Titans in 2017 out of Western Michigan. The 28-year-old spent his first three years in the league in Tennessee before playing for the Jets the last two years, where he caught 66 of 123 targets for 1,028 yards and six touchdowns in 22 games (19 starts). Davis will finish his career with 273 receptions for 3,879 yards and 17 touchdowns in 78 games (67 starts). With Davis out of the picture now in New York in 2023, Mecole Hardman Jr., Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb all have a path to more targets in the passing game behind No. 1 wideout Garrett Wilson.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

New York Jets wide receivers Garrett Wilson (ankle) and Corey Davis (illness) are both out of training camp practice again on Tuesday. Wilson suffered a low-ankle sprain in last Thursday's practice and hasn't been out on the field since. It's not a serious injury and the second-year wideout should be considered day-to-day. The 23-year-old has plenty of time to heal up before the start of the regular season, but he won't be appearing in Thursday's Hall of Fame game against the Cleveland Browns. Wilson thoroughly impressed in his rookie campaign in 2022, catching 83 of 147 targets for 1,103 yards and four touchdowns in 17 games (12 starts). With quarterback Aaron Rodgers now running the offense, more will be expected out of Wilson as a bona-fide WR1 in fantasy.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
