MLB Teams To Expand Rosters For First Month Of Season
5 years agoWhen Major League Baseball is able to start the regular season, teams are expected to expand their rosters from 26 players to 29 players for the first month. MLB is also considering expanding the playoffs from 10 to 14 teams this year. To get creative with a shortened season, doubleheaders could be implemented as well, but that's all just under consideration right now. No matter how you slice it, it's highly unlikely that a 162-game schedule will be played in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. With fewer games and less off days in a shortened season, teams will go through more pitching. Especially in the first month, we'll likely see much fewer quality starts and perhaps more openers used to preserve pitching.
