5 years agoTexas Rangers closer Jose Leclerc entered Tuesday's contest against the Chicago White Sox in the bottom of the fifth and exited unscathed after throwing 1 1/3 innings. It was Leclerc's third appearance of the exhibition season, and he is now up to eight strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings and has not given up a run. The 26-year old has a deadly combination with his fastball and slider that has ranked him in the top seven percent of the league over the last two seasons. The Rangers ranked inside the bottom five of save opportunities last season, but if his team can give him a lead in the ninth more often this season, Leclerc is a dark horse to crack the top-10 relievers.--Euan Leith
