Sean Murphy Healthy After First Spring Action
5 years agoOakland Athletics catcher Sean Murphy had two plate appearances in his Spring Training debut Monday against the Cubs, walking both times. More importantly, the A's starting backstop left the game healthy and pain-free as he continues to rehab from knee surgery. Murphy has power, he hit 15 home runs in 51 games between the Majors and Triple-A last season so he could be a cheap source of power from the catcher position. His walk rate has been above average at every stop in the minors so he should be on base enough to stay in the lineup and score some runs making him a sneaky value as the 14th catcher off the board on average in fantasy drafts.
