Brandon Workman Throws Scoreless Inning Against Braves
5 years agoBoston Red Sox reliever Brandon Workman made his first appearance of the spring and recorded a scoreless inning of work while striking out two batters in Sunday's 4-2 victory against the Braves. The 31-year-old is expected to begin the 2020 season as the Red Sox closer, as interim manager Ron Roenicke suggested the bullpen is viewed as one of the team's strengths. Workman was impressive in the late-inning role last season, as the right-hander posted a 10-1 record to go along with a 1.88 ERA, 16 saves and 104 strikeouts through 71 2/3 innings. Workman is currently being drafted in the middle-rounds of standard drafts, making the veteran reliever a quality option for saves and strikeouts.
