Joey Wentz To Be Shut Down For 10 Days
5 years agoDetroit Tigers general manager Al Avila said that an MRI exam on pitcher Joey Wentz (forearm) showed no structural damage to his arm, but he'll be shut down for around 10 days. The 22-year-old left-hander was traded from the Braves last season. He was much better for Double-A Erie in five starts to finish the year, posting a 2.10 ERA and 0.94 WHIP with a 13.0 K/9. Ranked as the team's No. 10 prospect to close out 2019, Wentz could be a mid-rotation starter for the Tigers by in a year or two because of his size and feel for pitching. For now, he's just one to watch in dynasty/keeper leagues.
