New Jersey Devils center Nico Hischier registered the game-winning goal 1:09 into the third period to help give his team a 2-1 victory over the visiting New York Islanders on Thursday. In addition to the big marker, the 20-year-old posted four shots and a block while leading all Devils forwards with 20:12 of ice time in the winning effort. With a strong December (nine points in 11 games), Hischier looks primed for a big 2020 calendar year - fresh off signing a seven year, $50.75 million contract extension back in October. With 24 points (nine goals, 15 assists), eight power-play points and 74 shots on goal through 35 games, the Swiss native is making strides in his third full NHL season. The Devils may finish near the basement of the league but Hischier (26% owned in Yahoo! leagues) is certainly a guy to keep an eye on as the second half progresses.--Chase Davis - RotoBaller

Before this recent stretch, he tallied just six points over his last eight contests. Through 67 games this season, Hischier has scored 30 goals and added 29 helpers. New Jersey Devils center Nico Hischier (upper body) has been activated from Injured Reserve ahead of Saturday's game against the Dallas Stars. The Swiss forward is ready to return to action after a six-game absence. Justin Dowling will vacate a spot in the lineup for Hischier, who will reclaim a top-six spot. He is set to skate with Timo Meier and Stefan Noesen. Fantasy managers have received inconsistent production from Hischier since the turn of the year, but he has had a solid campaign overall. Hischier is tied for the top spot on the Devils team with 24 goals and sits on 43 points with 51 games played.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

New Jersey Devils center Nico Hischier (upper body) is hoping to return on Saturday to face the Dallas Stars. Hischier was able to practice on Tuesday and will continue to be monitored leading up to Saturday's contest. Hischier has been on the injured reserve and missed their previous six games. Before the injury, Hischier was enjoying a nice offensive surge as he tallied seven points (five goals, two helpers) over his last six games. Overall, Hischier has tallied 43 points (24 goals, 19 assists) across 51 games, and 18 of them have come on the power-play. He has also averaged .91 blocked shots per game. When he is cleared for action, the 26-year-old will likely return to his role on the second unit and play alongside Timo Meier and Dawson Mercer.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

According to head coach Sheldon Keefe, New Jersey Devils center Nico Hischier (upper body) is considered week-to-week. Keefe noted that the team will check in on his status at the end of the week. As a result, fantasy managers should expect Hischier to miss at least their game against the Flyers on Wednesday and their contest against the Sabres on Sunday. The captain sustained this injury during their contest against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday evening. Over his last seven games, Hischier saw his offensive production improve as he tallied seven points (five goals, two helpers) while averaging three shots on goal per game. Overall, Hischier has found the back of the net 24 times and added 19 assists across 51 games. While sidelined, Dawson Mercer will likely continue to take over the No.2 center role.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
