Jake Guentzel to Miss Remainder of Regular Season
5 years agoPittsburgh Penguins forward Jake Guentzel underwent shoulder surgery after being injured in Monday night's game. His recovery timeline is estimated to be four to six months, leaving little doubt as to whether he will be able to return this regular season. Guentzel was on pace for a career year with 43 points in 39 games, most of which was accumulated while Sidney Crosby out of the lineup due to injury. The Penguins are now without their three top scorers from last season as Crosby and Guentzel are injured, and Phil Kessel was traded to Arizona, but still sit in second place in their division. For fantasy hockey purposes, Guentzel can be dropped in all non-dynasty or keeper formats as his earliest return would likely be sometime during the NHL playoffs.
