New England Patriots running back James White will take on a Bengals Defense in Week 15 that is allowing the eighth most fantasy points to opposing backs this season. The Patriots offense is in quite a slump right now but White has emerged as the lead back over the past few games. Teammate Sony Michel simply is not a threat in the passing game and White brings more versatility to the position. The Bengals have allowed 16 different running backs this season to post 10 or more fantasy points against them and look for quarterback Tom Brady to target White plenty in this contest. White will be a RB2/3 option in Week 15 with a solid chance at 100 total yards from scrimmage against the Bengals.--Joey C - RotoBaller

There remains no clear timetable for New England Patriots running back James White (hip) to return after undergoing hip surgery, according to a source. It's possible that he remains on the Physically Unable to Perform list to start the regular season, but the team still has several more weeks to evaluate his recovery and decide if he's ready to practice before the end of the preseason. If White starts the season on the PUP, he'd be forced to miss at least four games. The 30-year-old continues to fall on draft boards the longer he remains out, while at the same time Rhamondre Stevenson's fantasy stock continues to rise as a change-of-pace option alongside Damien Harris. Harris is the best fantasy bet, but rookie Pierre Strong Jr. could also be involved, making this backfield more frustrating from a fantasy standpoint.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The New England Patriots placed running back James White (hip), center David Andrews (shoulder), cornerback Jonathan Jones (shoulder), linebacker Raekwon McMillan (knee) and safety Jabrill Peppers (knee) on the Physically Unable to Perform list to open training camp. They can come off the list at any time, but they can't practice with the team until they are activated. White is recovering from surgery on his right hip and was seen recently with a limp, so it's no real surprise he's not ready for the start of camp. The 30-year-old veteran should once again be a change-of-pace, pass-catching option for New England's backfield behind Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson, but rookie Pierre Strong Jr. could take away valuable snaps. White will be a late-round flier in deep PPR leagues, at best.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

New England Patriots running back James White (hip) was still walking with what appeared to be an uncomfortable gait following a community appearance last Wednesday. White is scheduled to report to training camp next week, where it should become more clear how close he is to a possible return. "Just working so I can be the best player I can be whenever I step out on that field," White said. The 30-year-old played in just three games in 2021 before needing season-ending hip surgery, but he showed good chemistry with quarterback Mac Jones and could once again be New England's primary pass-catching option out of the backfield if he's healthy. But the Patriots backfield is crowded with Damien Harris, Rhamondre Stevenson and rookie Pierre Strong Jr., so White will be a late-round flier in PPR leagues, at best.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

New England Patriots running back James White (hip) was limited for most of the team's spring practices, but initial reports suggest that he might not be fully cleared for the start of the regular season, so he's a candidate to open the year on the Physically Unable to Perform list. If that's the case, White would miss at least six weeks. He could also be put on Injured Reserve, which would require him to miss four weeks. Rookie Pierre Strong Jr. looks like a good fit for White's role, but rookie Kevin Harris was also involved as a pass-catcher during offseason workouts, and J.J. Taylor could be a factor as well. White had season-ending hip surgery last year and would most likely be very limited in his backfield role in New England if he's ready for Week 1.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
