ANALYSIS: After losing star running back Dalvin Cook with a shoulder injury and Alexander Mattison missing Week 15 with an ankle injury, the undrafted second-year running back in Minnesota finally got his opportunity. Mike Boone had his first crack at leading this Vikings backfield, totaling 56 yards on 13 carries with two rushing touchdowns. Fantasy owners will need to monitor this situation closely as recent reports from Ian Rapoport of NFL Network hint towards Cook feeling good enough to play in Week 16.
With a favorable matchup against the Packers in Week 16, anyone that needs a starting running back should be all in on Boone. If you’ve got the waiver wire priority or any FAAB left, this is the time to use it and go all in on a potential workhorse running back with a great matchup for your fantasy football championship.
If Cook does end up missing Week 16 and after Mattison missed all of last week’s practices, Boone has a great chance at a heavy workload at home against Green Bay. If one of either Cook or Mattison end up playing, Boone is still in the Flex conversation thanks to their health, but if they both miss, he’ll immediately jump into the low-end RB1 conversation.
