Sterling Shepard A Candidate For Injured Reserve
5 years agoThe New York Giants are seriously considering putting wide receiver Sterling Shepard (concussion) on season-ending Injured Reserve after he suffered two concussions this year, according to multiple team sources. Shepard was close to returning in Week 9 before he started feeling concussion symptoms again. He has since been shut down and is in Pittsburgh visiting with concussion specialists. Some of Shepard's teammates are concerned about whether he'll be able to play football again. The Giants have a bye in Week 11, so the decision to place Shepard on IR might not come for a while. Still, there's no timetable for his return, and owners with other needs should seriously consider dropping him. With Shepard out and tight end Evan Engram (foot) week-to-week, Golden Tate and Darius Slayton will have higher ceilings as the top two pass-catchers.
