New York Knicks point guard Elfrid Payton is slated to miss Sunday’s game against the Sacramento Kings due to a strained right hamstring. The injury has now forced Payton to the sidelines for three consecutive outings, paving the way for RJ Barrett to continue seeing the lion’s share of duties at the point guard slot, with Frank Ntilikina pitching in on occasion. Payton has been off to a rocky start in 2019-20, shooting just 37.9 percent through his first four contests. His minutes are likely to be contested no matter when he returns, with his next opportunity coming Wednesday against Detroit.--Jesse Borek

The Charlotte Hornets have signed guard Elfrid Payton to a second 10-day contract. Previously, Payton had a stint with the New Orleans Pelicans before landing with the Hornets shortly before the All-Star break. Payton started for the Hornets during their final game before the break with LaMelo Ball (ankle) being sidelined. The 30-year-old finished with four points, four rebounds, and seven assists in 30 minutes of action. It appears that was enough for the Hornets to give Payton another look through the rest of the month. He figures to play a role behind Ball in the rotation, but it probably won't be enough to warrant rostering him in most fantasy formats.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

Phoenix Suns guard Elfrid Payton will start against the Kings on Sunday night. Chris Paul (thumb) won't be back anytime soon, and Cameron Payne (illness) is dealing with a non-COVID-sickness, so Payton will be in line to get some extra work. However, despite the increase in minutes, Aaron Holiday may be the more attractive fantasy option as the leader of the team's second unit.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBaller

Phoenix Suns guard Elfrid Payton has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Payton is back in protocols after coming back on Monday. He didn't exactly have a huge role when healthy anyway. Cameron Payne will see more minutes in his absence. He could be a low-end streaming option, but there are probably better options available in most formats.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller
