Costly Turnovers Overshadow Derek Carr's Productive Effort
5 years agoOakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr completed 22 of 28 passes and threw for a season-high 293 yards in a losing effort versus the Packers in Week 7. His pair of touchdown passes were overshadowed by a pivotal fumble late in the second quarter in which he reached for the pylon only to lose the ball through the end zone, resulting in a touchback. Carr was also picked off in the end zone in the fourth quarter while trying to make a late comeback for his fourth interception of the year. The 28-year-old veteran played short-handed with Tyrell Williams (foot) and new acquisition Zay Jones on the sidelines, but continued to hook up with tight end Darren Waller to consistently move the chains. Carr has done a commendable job this season as the leader of the offense, but turnovers continue to linger over his results. He'll have some streaming appeal in Week 8 versus the Texans, but history shows that he's anything but reliable as a fantasy starter.
