BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 7% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Preston Williams is exactly the type of player I love the make a living off during the season. No one wants to have a single share of the Dolphins offense, which is reasonable. Devante Parker, who isn't that bad, is the most-owned player of Miami and he's only rostered in just 9% of Yahoo leagues. But I'm a firm believer in Williams as a one-off addition, pickup-then-dump player, especially this week.
Through four games, Miami has been atrocious. The Dolphins have scored two offensive touchdowns (one by Williams, one by Parker), only four players have 100-plus yards either rushing or receiving, and Josh Rosen and Ryan Fitzpatrick have been intercepted three and four times respectively. Preston Williams, though, has been kind of a bright light lost between all of the tanking efforts. He leads the team in targets (30), receptions (15), yards (201) and touchdowns (one). William's progressive usage has been encouraging too, going from five to six, 12, and seven targets so far. He has caught four passes in each of the last three games and posted 46-plus yards in every one of them. All of that against top-10 defenses against WRs.
Entering Week 6, Williams faces his best chance to date to put on a show. Miami hosts Washington in the unofficial battle for the No. 1 draft pick next offseason. Both defenses suck, the game can turn into an all-offense affair full of silly touchdowns, and Williams is the best bet on the Dolphins side of the equation. If you can get Williams for free, do it as soon as you can. Don't get too emotionally linked to him, though, because Miami visits Buffalo in Week 7 and the Bills might limit the entire Dolphins passing game to under 100 yards. But for a one-off start at the flex position, or if your roster is really skinny, consider Williams a solid option for the upcoming weekend.
