Chris Thompson A Risky Flex Play Against Patriots
5 years agoWashington Redskins running back Chris Thompson is in line for his usual fantasy-friendly pass-catching volume on Sunday, as he leads the team in total targets and trails only Terry McLaurin in targets per game. That's the good news. The bad news is that the Patriots are coming to town, Thompson's quarterback for Week 5 is Colt McCoy, and the Redskins have arguably the worst running game in football. With both of Washington's top two tight ends having been ruled out and McLaurin remaining hampered by a hamstring injury, Thompson could be looking at a huge role in the offense on Sunday. The question is whether he'll be able to do much with it given the external factors in his matchup. If there's any hope, it's that the Patriots are allowing five receptions and just south of 50 receiving yards per game to opposing RBs. It'd be wise to exhaust all other options, but for the desperate, Thompson is the most likely of any Washington player to return double-digit PPR fantasy points in this game.
