After two fun weekday slates, we kick things back into action for week six with an 11-game slate over on DraftKings. We'll touch on FanDuel as well, but check out the late article as well for plays that span the entire day. We'll be focusing on the best plays with price considered, so value will be touched on. It's a fun slate, with Heisman hopefuls Jalen Hurts and Joe Burrow involved. Let's dive right in and take this slate down!
In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy college football lineup picks for the games on FanDuel and DraftKings on 10/5/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.
It's an extremely fun slate ahead of us, with more than enough offense to go around. I'll be breaking down the later slate in a different article, so make sure to keep an eye out for that as well. Let's dive into some of the top plays at each position. You can follow me on Twitter @VarneyDFS. I will be around all day to answer questions.

FanDuel, DraftKings DFS Quarterbacks
Jalen Hurts - Oklahoma - FD $11,500 DK $9,300
Must I explain? The Heisman favorite has dominated week in and week out, making other quarterbacks ceiling his floor. Oklahoma hasn't pulled their starters much, either, so Lincoln Reilly is letting Hurts rack up the stats. They draw another weak Kansas defense that has given up over 300 yards per game on defense. I think it comes down to Hurts or Burrow for a lot of folks, and while I like both, the upside Hurts gives you on the ground is invaluable. Burrow has to throw for six touchdowns to hit his ceiling, where Hurts can throw for three, run for 100 and a score to get there. Hurts is the top option on the slate and I'll be fitting him in 100% of lineups.
Sean Clifford - Penn State - FD $10,200 DK $7,100
Sean Clifford is a very good quarterback for Penn state and DraftKings hasn't caught up yet. He's been over 220 yards in every games and has thrown for 3+ TD in two of his last three games. The Nittany Lions now face off with Purdue, who sport one of the worst pass defenses in the nation. THey've allowed 300+ passing yards to much worse QB's than Clifford, so I don't see how we don't see an encore of last Friday when Penn State dominated through the air. If you're looking to save or want a QB at your S-Flex, Sean Clifford is safe with plenty of upside.
Also Consider: Joe Burrow, Sam Ehlinger, Spencer Sanders, Austin Kendall
FanDuel, DraftKings DFS Running Backs
Chuba Hubbard - Oklahoma State - FD $10,600 DK $8,900
Running back is rarely this ugly on a main slate of college football. Fortunately, we still have the volume of Chuba Hubbard to take advantage of. Oklahoma State bases its offense around Hubbard, seeing 90+ targets over the last three weeks. He's turned into the best running back in the nation and he gets involved in the passing game as well. Texas Tech has a solid defense, but this game still holds a 63 over/under and Oklahoma State is favored by 10. I see the merit of a fade in tournaments, but eh volume is too hard to get away from in cash.
Alex Fontenot - Colorado - FD $8,700 DK $6,000
Colorado is a four-point favorite at home over Arizona, so they should bee relying on the run game. Alex Fontenot has been given a ton of volume this season, and he's produced with it. Through four games, Fontenot has seen 67 carries for 300 yards and four scores. This Colorado offense has looked great recently and he's been a big part of it. Expect another 20+ touches for Alex Fontenot if Colorado does indeed come out with an early lead.
Journey Brown - Penn State - FD $8,700 DK $5,400
This is admittedly a tournament play, as the Penn State backfield is extremely crowded. There are four backs that get carries, but it's clear that Journey Brows is the best of the bunch. If he once again sees 10+ carries, this Purdue defense hasn't stopped anyone on the ground and this offensive line certainly won't change that. He gets involved through the air as well, so you can play him next to Sean Clifford with both of their prices depressed. In cash games, I'd rather play King Doerue for Purdue for a cheaper price tag.
Also Consider: A.J. Dillon, Pooka Williams Jr., Javian Hawkins
FanDuel, DraftKings DFS Wide Receivers
Devin Duvernay - Texas - FD $9,500 DK $7,500
With Collin Johnson struggling to get things going this year, Devin Duvernay has had no issues taking over as the number one option in this offense. He's now seen 39 catches in four games with 377 yards and four touchdowns. The Texas Longhorns get a friendly match-up with a West Virginia defense that ranks 150th in the nation against the pass. They should remain in the game, however, and Duvernay could very well see another double-digit catch game. He's caught 12 balls in two of the last three games. I wouldn't overthink this one and will take Duvernay over Mims and Lamb every time.
Ja'Marr Chase - LSU - FD $9,900 DK $7,000
With Terrace Marshall out and Justin Jefferson dinged up, we may be looking at another Ja'Marr Chase show. He returned from injury and scored four times last outing, and Joe Burrow honed in on him like I've never seen in an LSU offense. He is obviously heavily trusted by Burrow and this Utah State pass defense is nothing to be worried about. It may be crazy to say, but I see the floor for Chase at 12 targets, 140 yards, and a touchdown. Call me crazy, but wait until Saturday night.
Chat Atwell - Louisville - FD $9,100 DK $5,800
Louisville is facing off with a Boston College pass defense that has had serious troubles all year long. They now face off Louisville, who is a five-point favorite in a game with a 60 over//under. That's over 30 implied points for a Louisville offense that doesn't have many weapons. Atwell has seen over seven targets in every game this year, including one where he scored 40 fantasy points. When you can rely on consistency and upside, the price should not be this low on either site. Atwell is a solid play that will go overlooked in all formats.
Also Consider: K.J. Hamler, Tylan Wallace, Tony Brown
