ANALYSIS: Buffalo Bills tight end Dawson Knox played a big role in the team's home opener win over the Bengals this past week. Knox had two huge plays in the game. He scored the team's first touchdown of the game on a one-yard pass from Josh Allen and he had the team's biggest offensive gain on the day with a 49-yard reception. His 67 receiving yards on the game led the team.
Knox has earned four targets each of the past two weeks, but did much more with them this past week than he did in Week 2, when he totaled just one catch for 18 yards. The Bills signed Tyler Kroft in the offseason to be the team's top pass-catching tight end, but he's yet to see the field. He had foot surgery in the offseason, shortly after signing with the Bills and while he seems to have recovered from the surgery, he is now nursing an ankle injury and is day-to-day at best. So for now, Knox is the team's top pass-catching tight end, but things could change whenever Kroft returns.
If you're in need of short-term tight end help in a league of 14-or-more teams, Knox is a fantastic target. The Bills' offense has shown some promise early in the season and Knox could be the team's third option in the passing game behind John Brown and Cole Beasley for now. The Bills have the Patriots next week, so it's a safe bet the Bills will need to pass, which should work out well for Knox.
