Ronald Jones II (RB, TB) - Week 4 Waiver Wire Pickups

Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Ronald Jones II is a fantasy football waiver wire pickup to target as a free-agent addition for Week 4 of the 2019 NFL season.

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 24% of leagues

ANALYSIS: If Ronald Jones II was on any team other than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, I might be arguing that he should be owned in all formats. The team's decision to keep giving chances to the inefficient Peyton Barber has stifled some of second-year back Jones' upside this year, but Sunday suggested we might be heading toward some kind of change.

Sure, Jones played just 30 percent of his team's offensive snaps, but he looked very good on those 23 snaps. Jones had 14 carries for 80 yards and also added a 41-yard reception.

Look: Ronald Jones II has had a disappointing start to his NFL career. After early drafters in 2018 were taking him in the mid-round of re-draft, his subsequent fall into obscurity as a rookie made everyone sour on him. But through three games in 2019, Jones has now had two games where he saw double-digit carries and gained over five yards per carry. Tampa Bay is in a spot where they pretty much have to give Jones chances just so they can see what he can do, right? You can't not give touches to someone who has been doing so much with his touches?

Those question marks in that last paragraph are an indication that I'm still not sure Bruce Arians is going to fully commit to Jones, which is why I'd struggle to pick him up in shallower leagues. But in 12-team leagues for owners in need of a running back with high upside, there's no reason not to give Jones a look.
