LeBron James 2019 Player Outlook
For the first time in over a decade, Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James faces the prospect of not being a first-round selection in a large number of fantasy drafts. That reality is not so much an indictment of James’ talent level -- which remains unquestioned -- but rather his ability to stay on the court for the entirety of the year, load management concerns included. James, at 34, is the oldest potential first-round pick on the board, which can make even the savviest of owners pause despite his having averaged 27.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game on 51 percent shooting alongside a cast of players that did not continuously inspire confidence. Los Angeles’ roster has been revamped ahead of James’ second year in Hollywood, so while Anthony Davis may lessen some of the King’s offensive load, James could be encountering the reality that he’ll be serving as the club’s point guard for the vast majority of the season. Last year, injuries robbed a chunk of James’ campaign for the first time in his career. Should he return to his usual workload, snagging James anywhere past the first few picks would present astounding value.
