BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 15% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: Back in Week 1, when Tyreek Hill left the game injured, we all looked at the Chiefs' depth chart looking for answers to fill the hole that his absence would open in the offense. It wasn't hard to pencil the No. 1 contender for it. Mecole Hardman is a second-round pick and already played in 53 snaps of Kansas City's first game of the season. He was targeted only once, though, with Sammy Watkins getting all of Patrick Mahomes attention, but the playing time was already there.
Fast-forward to Week 2 and a 15% ownership rate looks ridiculously low for Hardman. The wideout saw six targets this time, hauling in four receptions for 61 yards and a touchdown. The scoring play came from a 42-yard pass in typical Chiefs fashion. That production was even greater considering Watkins once again led the team in targets and unexpected breakout Demarcus Robinson finished the game with 172 yards and two touchdowns.
No matter who Hardman's competition for targets and chances ends up being, it looks like Mahomes and the Chiefs offense will keep destroying defenses this year so there will be plenty of fantasy points to spread between all receivers. Watkins and Kelce may be the go-to options for Mahomes going forward, but the QB isn't afraid of looking for riskier windows on throws and both Hardman and Robinson offer the deep-threat speed Mahomes can take advantage of. With Hill expected to miss a few more weeks, adding Hardman to any practically any league's roster feels like a must-do move today.
