Jonathan Abram's Pending Surgery Downgrades Raiders Defense
5 years agoThe Oakland Raiders Defense will take a significant blow when rookie safety Jonathan Abram goes under the knife to repair his shoulder. The first-round pick out of Mississippi State tore his rotator cuff and labrum in the first quarter versus the Broncos Monday night, but managed to play through the game. Surgery will knock Abrams out for at least two months and perhaps the season. The Raiders defense looked much improved in Week 1 with Abrams a big part of it, carrying over his physical style of play over from his college years. His loss will open up a hole in the secondary that opposing team's will be able to expose with much more ease. The Raiders D/ST should be avoided as fantasy options in 2019 while pass-catchers in the Chiefs offense should get a slight boost for their Week 2 outlook.
