Alexander Mattison Tallies 10 Carries
5 years agoMinnesota Vikings rookie running back Alexander Mattison had a solid game on Sunday night, rushing 10 times for 41 yards operating as the lead back in starter Dalvin Cook's absence. Mattison also caught 1-of-2 targets for four receiving yards before exiting the contest. Mattison's preseason usage and training camp buzz have indicated that he's the top backup to Cook this season, which puts him on the fantasy radar as one of the more valuable handcuffs. However, Mike Boone has been successful through two preseason games, and a Vikings beat writer recently reported that fullback CJ Ham has been getting first-team third-down reps in practice due to his pass protection skills. Monitor this situation, but it still seems likely that Mattison will operate as the Vikings secondary running back heading into the season.
