Matt Gay Outperforming Cairo Santos in Preseason
5 years agoThe Tampa Bay Buccaneers are having a competition between kickers Matt Gay and Cairo Santos. Thus far, neither has missed a kick, however, Gay has been presented more field goal opportunities and has not disappointed yet. Gay has hit from 48 and 55 yards while Santos has just one for 23 yards. Gay's ability to hit from distance will not go unnoticed among Bucs' staff members who've had to deal with Roberto Aguayo and a medley of bad kicking options these past few seasons. Santos comes with some prior success in Kansas City, but even he was replaced there by a more skilled kicker in Harrison Butker. Gay could have legit kicker value (lol) if he does take the job and actually hit from distance this season. The Bucs will have a high-powered offense and present plenty of opportunities for field goals/extra points throughout the year.
