Joshua Dobbs Shows Versatility In Preseason Opener
5 years agoPittsburgh Steelers quarterback Joshua Dobbs went 5 of 8 for 85 yards, while also rushing for 44 yards on two carries in Friday's preseason win over Tampa Bay. Dobbs' big play in the evening was a 36 yard tuck-and-run in a second quarter drive then ended up with a field goal for Pittsburgh. Dobbs is fighting with second-year quarterback Mason Rudolph to serve as the team's backup quarterback. Dobbs is the only other quarterback on the roster, besides Ben Roethlisberger, who has thrown a pass in an NFL game, but this preseason battle will determine which way the team goes with their future. Dobbs doesn't have much dynasty value, as the cards are stacked against him, but if he is able to win the backup job and Big Ben gets hurt, then he will take over calling the shots for a high-end NFL offense.
