FanDuel MLB DFS Lineup Picks (8/10/19): Daily Fantasy Baseball Advice

Joel Bartilotta highlights the top FanDuel MLB DFS lineup picks for 8/10/19, and a couple of sleepers to consider while building daily rosters.

It’s Saturday and that means we got another full day of baseball ahead of us. There are games spread all throughout the day and into the night and the stakes are getting higher with the season slowly winding down.

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for DraftKings on 8/10/19. The lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

Be sure to also check out all the Vegas Odds for today's slate. You can also read more DFS advice and lineup picks for sites like FanDuel, and other sports too. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to hit me up on Twitter @Bartilottajoel

FanDuel DFS Pitchers

Vince Velasquez, PHI at SF ($7,500)

I was hoping this price would be a little lower but there’s a lot to like here about Velasquez. Let’s start with his impressive career statistics, with VV posting a 4.15 xFIP and 26 percent K rate. His recent form is much more indicative of those impressive career averages, with Velasquez pitching to a 3.89 ERA and 1.14 WHIP over his last 44 innings of action. He also has 50 Ks in that impressive stretch and an xFIP south of 3.50. That’s all you can ask for in a matchup like this, with the Giants ranked 27th in runs scored, 28th in OPS and 27th in wOBA. That’s especially scary considering this ballpark is arguably the best pitching park in the Majors.

Kenta Maeda, LAD vs. ARI ($6,700)

Maeda is in a bit of a slump right now but he’s too good of a pitcher to be priced this cheaply. To put it simply, how often do you see a Dodgers pitcher at home priced so low? It’s not every day that a guy as talented as this is below $7,000. Vegas agrees, as they have Maeda entering this game as a -195 favorite with the Diamondbacks having an implied run total south of four.

It’s really no surprise looking at Maeda’s numbers. We’re still talking about a guy with a 4.37 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 26 percent K rate this season. That’s really not far off of his career numbers, with Maeda pitching to a 3.92 ERA, 3.79 xFIP, 1.17 WHIP and 26 percent K rate. Not to mention, Maeda has a 3.17 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 9.7 K/9 rate at Dodger Stadium this season. Those are the numbers of an $8,500 player, as we’re looking at quite the discount here.

FanDuel DFS Infielders

Eric Thames – 1B, MIL vs. TEX ($2,800)

Thames and Jesus Aguilar continue to be underpriced on FanDuel and it’s hard to understand why. While I like both of these guys, we’ll pivot to Thames. The simple fact is, this dude should be well above $3,000. Not only does he bat in the heart of one of the best lineups in baseball, Thames has also mashed right-handers since he joined this club. In fact, Thames is generating a .356 OBP, 521 SLG and .876 OPS against right-handers since joining Milwaukee three years ago. That’s huge against Pedro Payano and his 4.92 xFIP and 1.53 WHIP.

Rougned Odor – 2B, TEX at MIL ($3,300)

Odor is quietly one of the hottest hitters in the game and it’s time to hop on the train when it’s rolling like this. While he is hitless in his last four games, Odor had three doubles, seven homers, 12 runs scored and 14 RBI over his previous 14 games. What adds to his intrigue here is that he gets the platoon advantage against Adrian Houser, who’s pitching to a 4.40 ERA and 1.40 WHIP.

Alex Bregman - 3B, HOU at BAL ($4,000)

After a couple of value plays, let’s get a stud into our build. Bregman’s season-long numbers speak for themselves, with the powerful third baseman generating a .537 SLG and .939 OPS this season. His numbers this week have been downright absurd, with Bregman collecting six doubles and eight RBI over his last 10 games en route to a .500 OBP, .705 SLG and 1.205 OPS. That’s truly scary against this Orioles pitching staff, as they’ll send out Aaron Brooks and his 5.45 ERA and .361 xwOBA.

Didi Gregorius – SS, NYY at TOR ($3,300)

It’s strange that we have to scroll down so far to find Gregorius and that alone shows what a value he is. This lineup has been obliterated by injuries but you wouldn’t know it by their absurd production recently. Gregorius has actually found himself in the heart of the order with all of these injuries and it’s led to him driving in 22 RBI over his last 18 games. That’s all you can ask for from someone priced so affordably, as Gregorius will get the platoon advantage against Jacob Waguespack.

FanDuel DFS Outfielders

J.D. Martinez, BOS vs. LAA ($4,400)

The advanced statistics from this guy are simply incredible and we definitely want to use him when he’s hot. He’s just that, with Martinez accruing seven doubles, seven homers, 17 runs scored and 21 RBI over his last 19 games en route to an OBP of .500 and an OPS approaching 1.300. That doesn’t even take into consideration that he gets to face a lefty, with J.D. totaling a .479 OBP, .885 SLG and 1.364 OPS with the platoon advantage in his favor this season. He happens to face a struggling southpaw too, with Andrew Heaney pitching to a 5.09 ERA and 1.37 WHIP.

Cameron Maybin, NYY at TOR ($3,400)

We foreshadowed this play with Gregorius earlier and it’s going to be tough to fade the Yankees in such a premier matchup. The Toronto righty pitched to a 5.14 ERA and 1.47 WHIP for his Triple-A career, as his .350 xwOBA and 4.94 screams negative regression. That puts Maybin on the left side and that’s ginormous for a guy who has a .374 AVG, .624 SLG and 1.063 against right-handers this season. Maybin is a name from the past but don’t let that steer you away from using him here.
