BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 21% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS: Pirates infielder Kevin Newman has seen his performance dip since his exceptionally strong May/June, but he is still providing enough at the plate to merit consideration in 12+ team leagues.
Newman is hitting .304 on the year, and his .283 xBA is one of the top marks in the league. He's not just a batting average stabilizer either, as he has six home runs and 10 stolen bases, along with 31 runs scored and 40 RBI.
His statcast data is underwhelming, to say the least, as his barrel rate of 1.4% and his hard hit rate of 24.5% are among the lowest marks in the league. His speed is elite however, which is helping him stay above .300.
He makes a ton of contact, sporting an excellent 12.0% strikeout rate, and while his 5.9% walk rate could be better it's still encouraging to see him hit over .300 even with a weak barrel rate.
He's getting regular playing time, alternating between hitting leadoff and seventh, and as long as that continues he's worth a look in 12-14 team leagues.
