Chris Sale Picks Up 200th Strikeout In Win
5 years agoBoston Red Sox starting pitcher Chris Sale struck out 13 and allowed just two hits in eight complete innings of shutout baseball in a 3-0 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday. The Boston ace kept the Angels in check all night, touching 98 mph and generating 16 swinging strikes in the outing. It was his best start in almost a month, and his fifth start this season without allowing a run. He improved to 6-11 with a 4.41 ERA and 206 K is 140 2/3 innings. He's just the fifth pitcher in MLB history to record seven consecutive 200-plus strikeout seasons. Things get a little more difficult for his next start, which falls on Tuesday against the Indians. Regardless, Sale is one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball and there's no question of firing him up in all formats.
