WNBA Daily Fantasy Lineup Picks (8/9/19): WNBA DFS Advice for DraftKings and FanDuel

Justin Carter's top daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for 8/9/19. Expert WNBA DFS advice, sleepers & player recommendations for DraftKings and FanDuel.

We have two games in the WNBA on Friday, with Connecticut visiting Minnesota and the Aces hosting the Sky. These aren't the most balanced games on paper, and they're relatively hard to project from a fantasy point-of-view than some other slates have been, but there are chances to find some major success.

In this article, I'll be providing you with some daily fantasy WNBA lineup picks for DraftKings and FanDuel on 8/9/19. These lineups picks will range from elite players to mid-priced options and value plays.

WNBA - DFS Guards

Kayla McBride (G, Las Vegas Aces) – vs Chicago Sky (DK: $8,800, FD: $6,800)

McBride finds herself in a good spot here against one of the WNBA's worst defenses. Chicago is one of just two teams in the league allowing 80 or more points per game. McBride has taken double-digit shot attempts in four of her last five games and if we erase the team's July meeting with the Wings in which Vegas got out to a commanding lead and got to limit the minutes of most of their players, McBride's been incredibly consistent lately. She had 16 points and five rebounds the first time these teams met.

Allie Quigley (G, Chicago Sky) – @ Las Vegas Aces (DK: $8,100, FD: $6,400)

Over the past five games, the Aces are allowing opponents to shoot the third-highest three-point field goal percentage in the league. Meanwhile, among qualified players, Allie Quigley has the third-highest three-point field goal percentage at 48 percent. Quigley's a deadly shooter who's hit a whole different level this year than she has in the past, and a matchup with the Aces should give her ample chances to fire the ball up. She's taken at least five threes in four of Chicago's last five games and she scored 18 points the last time she faces the Aces.

 

WNBA - DFS Forwards

Dearica Hamby (F, Las Vegas Aces) – vs Chicago Sky (DK: $9,900, FD: $7,100)

With A'ja Wilson still out, Hamby gets another start. This one comes against a Sky team that allows more points in the paint per game than any other team in the WNBA, so it's worth betting on Hamby looking more like she did in her first few starts after the Wilson injury -- when she was a double-double machine -- than in her last one, when she had six points and seven rebounds against the Wings. There's a little risk here just based on how much Hamby's DFS cost has risen lately, but the upside is high.

Napheesa Collier (F, Minnesota Lynx) – vs Connecticut Sun (DK: $9,100, FD: $7,400)

I guess I should wade into the waters of Sun/Lynx, even though that game scares me a lot more from a DFS perspective.

Jonquel Jones is probably the safer pick in this one, but if you want to save a little more DFS salary to use elsewhere, I like Collier. Collier's put up decent numbers against the Sun this year. In her first meeting with them, she had 10 points, six rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block, while in the second meeting she had 10 points, five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block. Pretty consistent numbers.

But Collier's also seen a slight uptick in shot attempts over the past five games, putting her ceiling a little bit higher for this contest than the previous ones against Connecticut, and she's been absorbing a higher percentage of the team's rebounding load as well. Collier's had a strong rookie year, and she just keeps getting better. Expect her to be one of the bright spots for Minnesota in what could be an otherwise rough game.
