Baltimore Orioles second baseman/shortstop Jonathan Villar had a landmark game in Monday's 9-6 loss to the Yankees, hitting for the cycle in just the fifth time in O's history. Villar was left with just a single to go in his last at-bat but was facing Aroldis Chapman and was able to go the other way with the pitch into right field to complete the feat. His final line was 4-for-5 with two RBI and a strikeout. The 27-year-old now owns a .267/.331/.437 slash line with 15 home runs, 51 RBI, and 24 stolen bases. His multi-skill toolbox makes him a must-start in most fantasy leagues.--Connelly Doan - RotoBaller

Los Angeles Angels infielder Jonathan Villar is starting at second base and is hitting in the leadoff spot in his debut with the team on Sunday against the Houston Astros. Villar signed with the Angels on Friday after hitting .222/.271/.327 with two home runs, 15 RBI, 19 runs scored and six stolen bases in 166 plate appearances and 46 games for the Chicago Cubs. The Angels are hoping that the 31-year-old veteran can give them some kind of spark atop the lineup in front of superstar Mike Trout. Villar is no longer in the prime of his career, but he's still worth a roster spot in deep mixed and AL-only leagues for his speed.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Los Angeles Angels have claimed infielder Jonathan Villar off waivers from the Chicago Cubs, according to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register. Villar was designated for assignment by the Cubs about a week ago. He slashed .222/.271/.327 with two home runs, six stolen bases, 15 RBI and 19 runs over 46 games in a Cubs uniform this year. He'll help give some infield depth to the Angels, who lost third baseman Anthony Rendon (wrist) for the year and are still awaiting the return of middle infielder David Fletcher (hip).--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller

The Chicago Cubs designated infielder Jonathan Villar for assignment on Friday and activated infielder David Bote (shoulder, head) from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move. Villar was scratched from the starting lineup on Friday against the St. Louis Cardinals, but instead he'll be waived after hitting just .222/.271/.327 with two home runs, 15 RBI, 19 runs scored and six stolen bases in 46 games for the Cubbies. The 31-year-old veteran switch-hitter should latch on with another organization for his speed alone. With Villar out of the picture in Chicago now, expect Bote and Andrelton Simmons to split time at the keystone until Nick Madrigal (groin) returns from the injured list.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

The Chicago Cubs placed infielder Jonathan Villar (mouth) on the 10-day injured list on Monday and recalled Nelson Velazquez from the minors in a corresponding move. Villar needs significant dental work. The Cubs also selected the contract of Matt Swarmer and moved Ethan Roberts to the 60-day injured list. The move to put Villar on the IL is retroactive to Friday. The 31-year-old switch-hitter has a slash line of .239/.279/.336 with two home runs, 12 RBI, 13 runs scored and four stolen bases in 122 plate appearances over 32 games this year in his first year in Chicago. Villar is still useful for some modest speed in deeper leagues when he's healthy.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
