Peter Lambert Labors Through No-Decision
5 years agoColorado Rockies rookie starter Peter Lambert matched his career-high in walks in a single game with three and allowed four earned in six innings on Friday, but his offense bailed him out and kept the game tied until Lambert left. A go-ahead double by replacement outfielder Ian Desmond in the seventh got the win for the Rockies, but Lambert was icing his arm by then. The six-inning appearance by Lambert featured the most batters he's ever faced in an outing, 27, and he only averaged 92.1 MPH on his fastball throughout the start, the lowest of his MLB career. At just 22 years of age, Lambert may be starting to tire in his first big league season, but he's logged more than 140 innings pitched in each of the last two years in the minors, so he'll probably still pitch regularly throughout August.
