ANALYSIS: Colin Moran's quietly solid season continues, as the Pirates infielder is slashing a tidy .288/.329/.458 with 10 home runs and 56 RBI.
His July numbers have been electric, as the left-hander is hitting .348/.371/.455 with a .826 OPS and 12 RBI. However, despite the .348 average, Moran has not homered since June. Plus, he's sporting an ugly 1.4% walk rate and a 30% strikeout rate in July.
The average is nice, and multi-positional flexibility makes him intriguing, but until Moran starts to show more power he's probably only worth a look in deeper formats. His 36.6% hard hit rate is below average, although his 7.3% barrel rate is pretty good. Hence, Moran is able to hit a lot of singles, but isn't harnessing a ton of extra-base pop.
He still starts in the middle of Pittsburgh's lineup on most days, which should afford him opportunities for runs and RBI. If his power starts to show up, he'll become a very attractive fantasy asset. Until then, he's worth a roster spot in deeper leagues.
