Marcus Mariota Playing Heavier In 2019
5 years agoTennessee Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota enters his fifth season with plenty of question marks surrounding him, but perhaps none loom as large as his durability. He has only missed nine total starts in those four seasons, but he has spent a significant amount of time playing through injuries as well. The goal for Mariota and the Titans this offseason was for him to work on his durability, and it seems that he has been dedicated to just that. On Friday Mariota said he entered camp weighing around 225-230 pounds, up from the 215 he weighed a season ago. While added weight doesn't ensure he stays healthy in this crucial contract year, it will likely help him when absorbing contact from defenders throughout the season. Mariota is likely nothing more than a streaming option in redraft leagues until we see more promise from the offense, but he remains a hold in dynasty formats, where his value would likely skyrocket with a bounce-back campaign in 2019.
