Tim Beckham’s Grand Slam Powers Mariners Victory
5 years agoSeattle Mariners new utility man Tim Beckham launched a go-ahead grand slam in the third inning, setting the tone for the team’s 10-2 defeat over the Tigers Thursday. He finished the contest going 1-for-5 with three punchouts, which has summed up his season as a whole. Beckham has impressed in the power department slugging 15 dingers on the season, but his 30.8% K-rate has left him with an undesirable .235 batting average. Coming out of spring training as the everyday shortstop, he’s ceded all playing time to J.P. Crawford, but has still found ways to enter the lineup by playing the corner infield spots as well as left field. Beckham remains a boom or bust player on a daily basis and hasn’t shown much consistency to earn the moniker of a significant fantasy asset.
